With over a decade of litigation experience, Rick is committed to protecting the rights of individuals and promoting justice by vigorously advocating on behalf of his clients. He believes that our legal system should be used to defend and promote fundamental individual rights. He considers it an honor to fight for each person’s right to equal justice under the law.
Rick focuses his practice on complex litigation, primarily employment law and class action claims. He has a proven track record of success, litigating numerous six and seven figure results in employment discrimination, harassment and retaliation cases, wage and hour cases, and class actions. Rick has litigated against some of the largest companies in the country, taking on employers who mistreat their employees and holding them accountable.
Rick was trial co-counsel for the record-setting $238 Million verdict in Gratton v. UPS (U.S. District Court, Eastern District of WA, Yakima, September 2024), a race-retaliation case on behalf of a wrongfully terminated black UPS driver.
Rick was named a Rising Star by Washington Super Lawyers every year from 2013 through 2018. Prior to starting his litigation practice, Rick served as a law clerk to the Honorable Tom Chambers of the Washington State Supreme Court. He earned his J.D. from Seattle University School of Law, graduating magna cum laude and earned his B.A. from the University of Washington. He is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, as well as the Washington State Association of Justice - Eagle Member (WSAJ), and the Washington Employment Lawyers Association (WELA). He is admitted to practice in all Washington courts, the U.S. District Court for the Western and Eastern Districts of Washington, and the United States Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit.
